2025/2026
A custom stainless steel library developed by Studio Frederik Fialin with Studio MBM for the Chelsea, NYC home of shoe designer Brian Atwood and Dr. Jake Deutsch.
Conceived around Atwood’s extensive collection of fashion books, the library occupies the study as a continuous shelving structure. Its cascading arrangement follows the room’s angular geometry, wrapping around the walls and extending across the large window. The collection becomes part of the room’s architecture, surrounding the workspace and creating a room within a room.
Set against black lacquered walls and ceiling, the stainless steel shelves establish a rhythm of horizontal planes. Books fill the structure with colour and texture, while the open shelving across the glazing brings the collection into the foreground of the city view. The library gives the study a distinct spatial identity, serving as both a working environment and a home for the collection.

2022-2025
Developed through a close, long-term collaboration with founder Philipp Ramhofer, Studio Frederik Fialin designed and produced a collection of bespoke furniture and a wall sculpture for BWGTBLD’s headquarters in Berlin. The project includes the Manta Manta conference table, a reception desk, a “Flower Table” lounge table, several large tables in brushed aluminium and stainless steel, padauk benches with stainless steel inlays as well as a special edition of the Elephant Table with a baby/dusty blue top in polyethylene.
Set within a historic building by Alfred Messel in Berlin-Mitte, the furniture sits among works from Ramhofer’s personal art collection. The headquarters serves as both a working office and a gallery, periodically welcoming the public.

“Zucker”
2025
I had the pleasure of participating in the solo show of Felix Kiessling, “Zucker”, which opened on Friday, 13 June 2025, at Alexander Levy (Berlin), where we collaborated on three pieces: Sitzgelegenheit V, Mono Bench, and a small, round, complementary table.
From the press release, it reads:
“The final work, Sitzgelegenheiten (2025) and Mono Bench (2025), a collaboration with furniture designer Frederik Fialin, consists of two sculptural chairs, the visitor is invited to sit on. One is partly a found object and a reimagining of 1960s Berlin public concrete benches. The other is based on the same logic of utility, reproducibility, and durability, but translated into a new material realm.
Sitzgelegenheit V is a continuation of Kiessling’s earlier work in the same series, but now adapted to complement the overall aesthetic of this particular show, using large slices of solid aluminium as both seat and backrest.
For the Mono Bench, we measured and scanned the found public concrete bench used for Sitzgelegenheit V and created a laser-cut 8 mm aluminium version of it, almost a flat 2-D version. This means that the fundamental ergonomics of the new and old are almost exactly the same, but the feel, structure, form, and material are vastly different.
